We work closely with NMIT to ensure that this is a safe and secure environment for all students living at Nikau Apartments. We also offer the option for short term stays if you are considering doing a short course at NMIT.

There are a number of key benefits for those wishing to stay;

• You will get to meet other students and can choose to live in 1, 2, 3 or 4-bedroom apartments.
• Situated on campus; only a few minutes walking distance to the city centre, local amenities and cafes.
• We also have two live-in student advisors to help you get settled into the campus and tell you about what’s available in the Nelson area.
• You would not require your own car as we are on Campus and close to the local bus service and other transport providers
• 14 apartments in 3 blocks (42 apartments in total) to choose from.
• Secure, modern, comfortable and study-friendly environment.
• Every apartment is fully furnished and has a bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen to cook your own food.
• Self service laundry facilities.

How much will it cost?

* Prices quoted are for a single person.  A couple sharing a room will pay one and a half times the standard room rate, for example a couple sharing a studio (one bedroom) apartment will pay $255 between them. You must hold current student I.D to receive these listed prices.

Resident Manager and support

We have a Resident Manager who is well versed in providing the pastoral care that some students may require. We also have Resident Advisors (senior students) who are a contact for the new students to ensure that they feel welcome and informed in regards to the Nikau and NMIT facilities and what to do in Nelson.

International Students

We welcome students from all over the world and we endeavor to make your stay in NZ a pleasant and enjoyable experience. When looking to stay in Nelson there are a number of accomodation options. We believe that living on campus allows you to settle into your studies more easily and it’s a hassle free option for you. You don’t need to worry about acquiring your own furniture or bedding it’s all right here at Nikau waiting for you. You can also apply to NMIT for accommodation assistance by completing the International Student Accommodation Form (found on the NMIT website) and submitting this together with your International Student Application Form to NMIT.
